I’ve decided to structure my life in a way that I don’t let negative feelings consume me too much. I noticed that I had a terrible habit on dwelling on a negative event for too long because I let my anxiety get the better of me so I came up with a new way to minimize this in order to maximize my happiness/content.
These days, when I become angry/upset/frustrated I give myself up to 5 minutes to vent about it. This venting can only be done straight after the upsetting event otherwise it’s void. I can scream, shout or throw my laptop as many times as I want so long as it doesn’t breech the 5 minute quota.
Since I’ve been doing this I’ve been a lot happier! Complaining about something is never a means to any end and isn’t productive in anyway. Either do something about it or get over it!
Obviously, depending on what has distressed me, I can adjust the venting time relatively me but for general trivial things I think 5 minutes is fair enough.
