Initially, When I saw images and footage for the Alexander Wang show I was overwhelmed with excitement but all for the wrong reasons. Firstly, fashion week had just started so I was on a high. Secondly, Alexander Wang was one of my favourite designers nd I was excited to see how he had progressed. When I first saw the collection I thought that yes, it was creative but was it wearable? My answer was undecided but it was only when someone tweet something that I realised what my conclusions on the Alexander Wang show was.

A fellow blogger Jen explained that she was tired of seeing people over emphasise their love for the Alexander Wang show because it was great but the hype had died down as fast as it came. I tweeted her back and said that people were so excited about the show because he produced clothes that were ‘Tumblr worthy’. Im sure some of you can familiarise yourself with these tumblr trends that I speak of? Kenzo jumpers, Celine bags, Balenciaga boots? There’s even a blog called ‘shit that bloggers wear’ that artistically illustrates all of the items that I have mentioned.

Tumblr and its stans have created some what of a fashion label wearing cult that indulge in wearing the most noticeable of designers so I really see where Alexander got his influences from. In a way I’m not mad at him. I think that his collection was centred around a marketing scheme to make a surplus. I think Alexander Wang produced a collection that he though his audience would want. His ‘Parental Advisory’ Slogan slathered on his clothes with definitely be a hit with trendy celebrities such as Rihanna and Rita Ora and maybe Nicki Minaj. The have some of the biggest fan bases so if they’re seen wearing his garments then EVERYONE will buy them.

I think his collection will be a hit with the bloggers too and once a blogger or a celebrity is snapped wearing a Wang piece it’ll get no less than hundreds of thousands of reblogs on tumblr. I’m pretty sure this will increase sales. Personally I thought the collection was good and I liked the consistency as well as the idea of the reinvention of wearing what seems like your boyfriends clothes but I have to say Alexander Wang is no longer my favourite designer. I felt like he could have been more creative. My opinion.
