I recently stayed at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos in Barcelona and it lived up to every expectation that I had. This was my second time staying on their grand grounds but this time, they had completely revamped with an interior refresh. The lobby is an absolute dream and gives the most luxurious high standard first impression when you enter. The staff are very courteous and friendly which is something I value when staying in a hotel. I always love it when staff go the extra mile to ensure that you’re comfortable or help with any of your needs.

The hotel is in a very accessible area with the Zona Universitaria metro station only being a short walk and it’s not too far away from the airport. It’s in a great location because it’s not in the centre of all the hustle and bustle but it’s extremely easy and fast to travel into the centre.

The hotel is facilitated with a pool, spa and even has a polo club! It somehow feels like a luxury retreat excursion rather than a hotel! We had a really lovely dinner at ‘The Terrace’ restaurant which had a gorgeous overview of their outdoor pool. The restaurant has an outdoor grill which they use to prepare some of their mouthwatering Spanish dishes (please try their chocolate fondant and Mojito ice dessert!).

Their breakfast buffet had more options than I could get my head around and was orientated around a continental theme. The breakfast room was filled with different types of bread, cheeses, fresh fruits and yoghurt as well as hot and cold meats and they had something for everyone (even a green juice for the people more health conscious. I myself, cannot say I am one of them!)

I loved the fact that their grounds were homely and quiet with lots of greenery as it really helps relax you and makes you feel like you’re really in for a great treat of R&R.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos – Book here
