Back to reporting what’s in trend for the fall/winter 14/15! Many of you know that Balenciaga is one of my favourite fashion brands and I really like how they creatively structure amazing silhouettes around the female body. This season we saw an influx of cocoon shapes with cinched in waists.

The heavily belted cocoon coats gave a feminine influence over the oversized shape. The hues that were featured in the collection were very dark and dull and we saw a prominent presence of leather but the collection was given life by the intricate architectural shapes.

My favourite piece was the hollow cave shaped tuxedo dress and the jewel embedded crescent wrap jumper. I like that Wang takes a sophisticated stance when designing for Balenciaga as stays true to the brand. It’s great that Wang keeps the influences of both of the brands (he designs for Balenciaga and has his own name brand Alexander wang) separate and unique.

I believe that the jewel crusted silk wrap jumper will be popular in the designer department stores and will definitely trickle down into the high street. I also think that the cocoon coats will fly off the shelves because we saw a lot of the oversized coat trend this AW and I think it’s definitely a trend that will roll over to the fall.
