Brunching

Happy 2016 everyone! I hope you’re all well, happy and cheerful. The beginning of this new year has been so exciting me. I’ve set a lot of goals for myself, to better my character, my craft and generally who I am as a person and I feel like in the short time already, I’m achieving a few of my goals!

I will explain them all more in the next post but this one is about food! If you’ve been following my instagram for a while you’ll know that I love the Parisian restaurant Aubaine and usually go there for breakfast with my blogger bestie Fisayo, but recently I went with my friend Antonella for brunch before browsing the shops in Selfridges.

I usually go to the South Kensington Aubaine branch so I was expecting the same menu but I quickly realised that Selfridges didn’t share the same menu as them. I was a bit disapointed that I wasn’t going to be able to indulge in their famous mouthwatering french toast but I was happy and open to try new things.

I skimmed the menu and it all look good. There were light salads, and quite a few filling dishes on the menu. I opted for the lobster-cream-tomato-basil pasta dish and my friend ordered the steak.

Whenever I see lobster pasta on the menu, I always feel obliged to try it. I love pasta and even though I’m not the biggest fan of lobster, I feel the two work well together. The pasta really met my high expectations. It was creamy, flavourful and the lobster pieces were shredded to the perfect size. Also, they weren’t frugal on the amount of lobster in the dish which was well received on my end. I ordered a side of French fries as well because if French fries are a side option I will ALWAYS order them.

My friend had the steak and she said it was beautifully cooked. Although it was hard to cut, she said that it wasn’t hard to chew and instantly melted in the mouth. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were okay and content at all times. He asked us just enough times that it was helpful and not overbearing. He really paid attention to detail and I appreciate that especially when the restaurant is bursting with customers.

Overall. I had a really lovely experience at Aubaine Selfridges. I always pay attention to how I’m treated by staff as well as how good the food is and I personally feel like their customer service is great. You’re welcomed at the door, sat down quickly and the food doesn’t take too long to come. It’s a great place to have conversation, catch up with friends and is a great pit stop for when shopping becomes tiring!

I think we spent around £40 for the both of us and all in all, we had a lemonade, a soda water and the two main dishes.
